26 min
A new foreign-owned factory opens in China every 26 min.

It will be harder and harder to compete on cost!

70%
By 2010, products representing more then 70% of manufactures’ sales today will be absolute due to changing demands and competitive offerings.
Products will quickly be outdated and new ones will take their place!

1 to 10
In countries all the world, the share of foreign born residents grows year by year. Today, more then 1 in 10 people in the USA were born elsewhere. In Australia, New Zeeland and Canada, the number is 1 in 5, and UK, France and Ireland, it’s 1 to 20.
People are on the move!

82%
From no presence in the portable music player market, Apple entered and conquered the market with it’s iPod, capturing an 82% market share in course of a few years.
The next competitor may come from where you least expect it.

Muhammad Yunus awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2006

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2006, divided into two equal parts, to Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank for their efforts to create economic and social development from below. Lasting peace can not be achieved unless large population groups find ways in which to break out of poverty. Micro-credit is one such means. Development from below also serves to advance democracy and human rights.

Muhammad Yunus has shown himself to be a leader who has managed to translate visions into practical action for the benefit of millions of people, not only in Bangladesh, but also in many other countries. Loans to poor people without any financial security had appeared to be an impossible idea. From modest beginnings three decades ago, Yunus has, first and foremost through Grameen Bank, developed micro-credit into an ever more important instrument in the struggle against poverty. Grameen Bank has been a source of ideas and models for the many institutions in the field of micro-credit that have sprung up around the world.

Every single individual on earth has both the potential and the right to live a decent life. Across cultures and civilizations, Yunus and Grameen Bank have shown that even the poorest of the poor can work to bring about their own development.

Micro-credit has proved to be an important liberating force in societies where women in particular have to struggle against repressive social and economic conditions. Economic growth and political democracy can not achieve their full potential unless the female half of humanity participates on an equal footing with the male.

Yunus’s long-term vision is to eliminate poverty in the world. That vision can not be realised by means of micro-credit alone. But Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank have shown that, in the continuing efforts to achieve it, micro-credit must play a major part.

Damn Proud

When in comes to dreams, passions and a free way of living, Alex Gavan is an inspiration for me.
We
’ve been working together in AIESEC, sharing a common passion at that moment: Forward.
I admire him and I appreciate him as human being and as a friend.
Alex is climbing mountains and enjoying the great outdoors since forever. At 24 years old, he is a freelance climbing photographer and expedition organizer.
On 3rd of October he reached Cho Oyu, 8201m, and once again I’m damn proud to have him as a friend.

His philosophy>> I go up there and feel the happiest… I climb because, for me, climbing mountains outside is climbing mountains inside…ultimately, this is all about; it is not about conquering anything, is not about having anything…it is about becoming; each climb does not change you but transforms you; it is all about reinventing yourself (time and time again).

If you can dream it, you can do it. The rest is just a matter of project management!

We decide. We choose.

We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, or the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But within all this realm of “choicelessness,” we do choose how we shall live: with purpose or adrift, with joy or with joylessness, with hope or with despair, with humor or with sadness, with a positive outlook or with a negative outlook, with pride or with shame, with inspiration or with defeat, and with honor or with dishonor. We decide that what makes us significant or insignificant. We decide to be creative or to be indifferent. No matter how indifferent the universe may be to our choices and decisions, these choices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. In the end, our own creativity is decided by what we choose to do and what we refuse to do. And as we decide and choose, so are our destinies formed.

Every second chance begins with a first step!

If you’re looking for a mind-blowing movie, definitely this is not the one. But if you like dancing then you can for sure put this movie next to: You got served, Honey, Dirty Dancing, Bring it up … etc. I’m talking about STEP UP! Directed and choreographed by Anne Fletcher (choreographer of the excellent Bring It On), the musical depicts a clash between kids representing “street” and more formal dance, though its soundtrack is resolutely turned toward the R&B/hip-hop/dancehall axis.
